Internship opportunities at the Great Mountains Music Festival & School

 

The 13th Great Mountains Music Festival & School is currently recruiting interns for summer 2016.

Founded in 2004, The Great Mountains Music Festival and School (GMMFS) presents performances by musicians of international acclaim in PyeongChang, Korea, home to the 2018 Winter Olympics. Under the direction of the Artistic Directors, cellist Myung-Wha Chung and violinist Kyung-Wha Chung, dozens of prominent artists take part in the festival performing chamber music, teaching students and holding master classes which are open to the public.

GMMFS provides an excellent opportunity for interns to learn diverse aspect of the festival and school administration.

Upon completion of the three week internship program, participants will be awarded a certificate and a stipend.

 

Location : Alpensia Resort & Yongpyong Resort in Gangwon Province (PyeongChang)

 

◦ Period :  July 18 ~ August 9, 2016

- The period for internships may vary slightly depending on the assigned functions.

- Office Administration, PR/Marketing, School, Artistic Administration, Concert Production

6 [2015 GMMFS] The 12th Great Mountains Music Festival and School 2015.06.01
We are looking for fun, mature and energetic individuals to join our dynamic team this summer  at the Great Mountains International Music Festival and School in Gangwon Province, South Korea.

If you love music, enjoy working with people, have a sense of humor and good work ethic, we would like to hear from you!


◦ Venue: Alpensia Resort in Gangwon Province (Transportation provided)
◦ Duration: 07/13/2015 - 08/04/2015

◦ Meals & Housing are provided
     - Holiday Inn Alpensia PyeongChang Resort (5 star Hotel)
     - 4 interns will share a Korean style studio (Heated floors with no bed)
     - No kitchen facility/ Hotel Service available but will be charged to interns
     - Roommates are assigned by staff members
     - Full board or 10,000 Won

◦ Stipend: 20,000 Won a day


: Must be able to work full time for the entire duration of the Festival at Alpensia Resort 
& YongPyong in Gangwon Province
: Participate in preparatory meetings slated for 2 July or 6 July 
: Experience in other music festivals or production preferred
: Proficiency in English language 




 
1. Public Relations/Marketing (2)
    : Work from July 13 to August 4
- Assist with creation of concert/event program books, fliers, posters
- Daily promotion of programs and events
- Produce newsletters and scrapbooks
- Support special events
- Perform other tasks to support PR staff members
- Support office administration staff in festival merchandise & various ticket sales
- Post daily news on the website
- Post on Twitter and Facebook
- Daily records of festival
- Aid photo and video journalists upon supervisor’s assignment
- Translate documents (mostly press reviews) upon staff’s assignment

◦ Qualifications
- Must have a professional attitude at all times
- Graphic design skills preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office software and internet browsing skill
- Good writing skill is preferred
- Must have positive and pleasant attitude and be able to handle deadline pressure
- Must be able to multi-task


2. Artistic Administrative Interns (5)
    : Work from July 13 to August 4
- Help artists with housing, local transportation and other needs
- Assist in creating, maintaining, and distributing artist schedule
- Organize and maintain venue schedule
- Coordinate backstage hospitality with production staff
- Assist in program production preparations and coordination
- Coordinate technical requirements of rehearsal/concert with production staff
- Check setups for each rehearsal
- Maintain office organization
- Make sure Artists’ Lounge is kept clean
- Make sure Artists’ Lounge is well stocked
- Arrange artists travel to outreach programs
- Meet artists at the airport
- Arrange artists transportation between the airport and Alpensia Resort
- Prepare for artists’ arrival at Alpensia Resort
- Escort and assist artists’ check-in and check-out at Alpensia Resort
- Assist with outreach concert activities
- Communicate with outreach program counterparts and coordinate logistics
- Arrange artists’ travel to outreach programs
- Assist to ensure all rehearsals and concerts off site are delivered at the highest level

◦ Qualifications
- All must speak and write fluent English
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
- Pay attention to details
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task
 

3. Concert Production/ Stage Crew (5)
    : Work from July 13 to August 4
- Concert Hall and Music Tent Administration
- Distinguished Artists Concert and Outreach concert Production
- Stage set-up for rehearsals and concerts
- Stage Manager Assistant

◦ Qualifications
- Have knowledge of classical music
- Must be proficient with MS office software
- Fluency in English preferred, but not required if the applicant can handle conversations with foreigners
- Driver’s license preferred
